Descripción
Tetramethylsilane is used as a building block in organometallic chemistry. It acts as a by-product in the production of methyl chlorosilanes. Also, it serves as a precursor to silicon dioxide or silicon carbide. It is used as internal reference standard for the calibration of chemical sift for 1, 13 and 29 NMR spectroscopy. In addition, it is used as an aviation fuel.

AplicacionesEl tetrametilsilano se utiliza como bloque de construcción en la química organometálica. Actúa como subproducto en la producción de metilclorosilanos. Además, sirve como precursor del dióxido de silicio o del carburo de silicio. Se utiliza como estándar de referencia interna para la calibración del tamiz químico para 1 13 y 29 espectroscopia NMR. Además, se utiliza como combustible de aviación.
Solubilidad
Miscible con agua, etanol, éter y la mayoría de los disolventes orgánicos. Inmiscible con ácido sulfúrico frío.
Notas
Almacenar en un lugar fresco. Incompatible con ácidos fuertes, bases fuertes y agentes oxidantes fuertes.
