Descripción
Ethyl glyoxylate is widely used as an intermediate in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals (high reactivity of aldehyde function). It is used in the synthesis of a biodegradable polymer, poly(ethyl glyoxylate). It is actively involved in the Friedel-Crafts alkylation reactions with thiophenes to give the corresponding secondary alcohols.

AplicacionesEl glioxilato de etilo se utiliza ampliamente como intermedio en la síntesis de productos farmacéuticos (alta reactividad de la función aldehído). Se utiliza en la síntesis de un polímero biodegradable, poli(glioxilato de etilo). Participa activamente en las reacciones de alquilación de Friedel-Crafts con tiofenos para dar lugar a los alcoholes secundarios correspondientes.
