Employed in the synthesis of enones by selenenylation of α-cyano ketones with lithium naphthalenide. Phenylselenyl bromide was used in the preparation of exo-2-methyl-7-phenylselenyl-octahydro-8-oxa-2,7b-diaza-dicyclopenta[a,e]pentalene-1,3-dione and endo-2-methyl-7-phenylselanyl-octahydro-8-oxa-2,7b-diaza-dicyclopenta[a,e]pentalene-1,3-dione.

Aplicaciones
Se emplea en la síntesis de enonas por selenenilación de cetonas de α-ciano con naftalenida de litio. El bromuro de fenilselenilo se utilizó en la preparación de exo-2-metil-7-fenilselenil-octahidro-8-oxa-2,7b-diaza-diciclopenta[a,e]pentaleno-1,3-diona y endo-2-metil-7-fenilselanil-octahidro-8-oxa-2,7b-diaza-diciclopenta[a,e]pentaleno-1,3-diona.

Solubilidad
Soluble en tolueno, turbidez muy débil.

Notas
Sensible a la humedad. Almacenar alejado del aire y del agua/humedad. Almacenar en un lugar fresco. Mantener el recipiente bien cerrado en un lugar seco y bien ventilado. Almacenar alejado de agentes oxidantes.
