Phenyl salicylate is used in the production of polymers, lacquers, adhesives, waxes and polishes. It acts as an antiseptic and mild analgesic. It is also used in the prevention of sunburn. It reacts with o-toluidine in 1,2,4-trichlorobenzene to give the corresponding amide o-Salicylotoluide. Further, it is involved in the study to check the effect on crystal size with cooling rate in the laboratory. In addition to this, it is used in veterinary medicine and also employed for coating pills, in which the medicine is intended for enteric release salol.

Aplicaciones
El salicilato de fenilo se utiliza en la producción de polímeros, lacas, adhesivos, ceras y pulimentos. Actúa como un antiséptico y analgésico suave. También se utiliza en la prevención de quemaduras solares. Reacciona con o-toluidina en 1,2,4-triclorobenceno para dar la amida o-salicilotoluida correspondiente. Además, se usa en el estudio para comprobar el efecto sobre el tamaño del cristal con la velocidad de enfriamiento en el laboratorio. También se utiliza en medicina veterinaria y para las pastillas de recubrimiento, en las que el medicamento está destinado a la liberación entérica de salol.
