1-Dodecanethiol is used in the preparation of hydrophobic or mixed self-assembled monolayers. It is also employed as a chain transfer agent for radical polymerization. Further, it is utilized as a polymerization inhibitor in polyurethane and neoprene adhesives, which finds application in the footwear industry. In addition to this, it acts as a protein regenerating agent used for the regeneration of native proteins from mercuribenzoate.

Aplicaciones
1-Dodecanetiol se utiliza en la preparación de monocapas hidrófobas o mixtas autoensambladas. También se emplea como agente de transferencia de cadena para la polimerización de radicales. Además, se utiliza como inhibidor de polimerización en adhesivos de poliuretano y neopreno, que se aplica en la industria del calzado. Además, actúa como agente regenerador de proteínas utilizado para la regeneración de proteínas nativas a partir del mercuribenzoato.
