Description

Take advantage of a quality product that delivers accurate results with the Epredia™ Ornithine Decarboxylase (ODC) Ab-1, Mouse Monoclonal Antibody.

ODC is the initial and rate-limiting enzyme in the biosynthetic pathway of polyamines and is involved in the conversion of ornithine to putrescine. The biological activity of ODC is rapidly induced in response to virtually all agents known to promote cell proliferation including hormones, drugs, growth factors, mitogens, and tumor promoters. Reportedly, ODC mRNA levels are elevated in lung carcinomas as well as in colon adenomas and carcinomas. ODC activity in colorectal carcinomas is greater than those in adenomas and normal mucosa.

Clone: MP16-2

Isotype: IgG1

Species Reactivity: Human, Rat, and Mouse. Because epitope of MAb MP16-2 (-IWGPTC-) is present in all known eukaryotic ODC sequences, it should react with ODC from other eukaryotes also.

Epitope: aa 355-360 (-IWGPTC-). It is associated with active site of ODC or a locus in its direct vicinity.

Immunogen: A synthetic hexadecapeptide (KPDEKYYSSSIWGPTC) (aa 345-360) from rat ODC

Molecular Weight: 53kDa

Positive Control: Epithelial cells in normal placenta or prostate CA

Cellular Localization: Cytoplasmic Ab-1 recognizes the native ODC and not the inhibited (labeled with H3-DFMO) enzyme.
