IL13 (Interleukin-13) is a gene located on chromosome 5q31, encoding the IL-13 cytokine, which plays a pivotal role in the immune system, particularly in the regulation of inflammatory and immune responses. IL-13 is predominantly secreted by Th2 cells and is involved in the pathogenesis of allergic reactions and chronic inflammatory conditions such as asthma and ulcerative colitis.
