Aplicaciones
La adenina se utiliza como un componente activo de los medios con deficiencia de boro para cultivar levaduras con el fin de evaluar si el boro estimula el crecimiento de levaduras. Es útil como antiséptico local y vitamina B4. Además, se utiliza en la determinación microbiana de niacina. También se emplea como complemento alimenticio para ratas adultas para investigar los efectos de la sobrecarga de adenina en la dieta. Además de esto, se utiliza en la producción de nucleótidos de los ácidos nucleicos.

Solubilidad
Soluble en agua caliente, metanol y etanol. Ligeramente soluble en agua fría. Insoluble en éter dietílico.

Sensible a la humedad. Incompatible con agentes oxidantes fuertes.
