Trimethylamine hydrochloride is used in the manufacture of quaternary ammonium compounds, as insect attractant. It is used as a raw material for the synthesis of choline chloride, quaternary ammonium compounds, ion exchange resins. It acts as cationic starch reagents, phase transfer catalyst, oil field chemicals, warning agent for natural gas and flotation agent.

Aplicaciones
el clorhidrato de trimetilamina se utiliza en la fabricación de compuestos de amonio cuaternario para atraer de insectos. Se usa como materia prima para la síntesis de cloruro de colina, compuestos de amonio cuaternario y resinas de intercambio iónico. Actúa como reactivo del almidón catiónico, catalizador de transferencia de fase, productos químicos para campos petrolíferos, agente de alerta para el gas natural y agente de flotación.

Solubilidad
Soluble en agua (737 mg/ml a 20 °C), cloroformo (moderadamente) y alcohol. Insoluble en éter.

Notas
Higroscópico. Almacenar bajo gas inerte seco y lejos de la humedad. Incompatible con los agentes oxidantes y el agua.
