Unless noted below, aliquots of the 5 μg, 10 μg and 20 μg sizes of kinase are not recommended as materials can be used in original packaging until exhausted. For larger sizes, the number of freeze/thaws may be reduced by preparing aliquots, aliquots below 20 μL are not recommended. Please never store a kinase diluted. MAPK8 (JNK1) is activated by the presence of misfolded proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum. It is also a crucial mediator of insulin resistance and obesity. It belongs to the MAPK superfamily of stress-activated protein kinases. MAPKs are Serine-threonine protein kinases that are activated in response to a variety of extracellular stimuli, and mediate signal transduction from the cell surface to the nucleus. JNK is involved in a wide variety of cellular processes such as proliferation, differentiation, transcription regulation and development. JNK pathways are activated by stress and inflammatory signals. JNK is expressed as ten different isoforms due to differential mRNA splicing. The predominant forms are JNK1 and JNK2.
