Trifluoroacetic anhydride is used for the introduction of trifluoroacetyl group in organic synthesis. It is involved in the preparation of N- and O-trifluoroacetyl derivatives of a wide range of biologically active compounds for gas chromatography analysis. It plays an important role as desiccant for trifluoroacetic acid. It is also used in the oxidation of aldehydes to acids, esters, amides as well as in the protection of alcohols and amines. In addition, it is used as analytical reagents, solvents and dehydration condensing agent. It serves as an intermediate of fluorine fine chemicals, pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals.

Aplicaciones
El anhídrido trifluoroacético se utiliza para la introducción del grupo trifluoroacetil en la síntesis orgánica. Participa en la preparación de derivados de N- y O-trifluoroacetil de una amplia gama de compuestos biológicamente activos para el análisis de cromatografía de gases. Desempeña un papel importante como desecante para el ácido trifluoroacético. También se utiliza en la oxidación de aldehídos a ácidos, ésteres, amidas, así como en la protección de alcoholes y aminas. Además, se utiliza como reactivo analítico, disolvente y agente de deshidratación por condensación. Funciona como intermediario de productos químicos finos de flúor, productos farmacéuticos y agroquímicos.

Solubilidad
Miscible con benceno, diclorometano, éter dietílico, dimetilformamida, terahidrofurano y acetonitrilo.

Notas
Higroscópico y sensible a la humedad. Mantenga el recipiente bien cerrado en un lugar seco y bien ventilado. Incompatible con agentes oxidantes fuertes, bases fuertes, ácidos fuertes y alcoholes.
