Triethyl borate is used as a solvent in resins, paints, varnishes, adhesives and sealant chemicals. It is used as a catalyst of synthetic waxes and resins. It is an active component of flame retardants in the textile industry and in welding fluxes. It is used to prepare m-tolyl-acetic acid ethyl ester by reacting with 1-bromomethyl-3-methyl-benzene and carbon monoxide using as1,5-hexadiene?dium chloride as a catalyst. Further, it is used in pyrotechnics.

Aplicaciones
El trietilborato se utiliza como disolvente en resinas, pinturas, barnices, adhesivos y productos químicos selladores. Se utiliza como catalizador de ceras y resinas sintéticas. Es un componente activo de los pirorretardantes en la industria textil y en los flujos de soldadura. Se utiliza para preparar el éster etílico de ácido M-tolilacético mediante reacción con 1-bromometil-3-metilbenceno y monóxido de carbono utilizando como catalizador el cloruro de 1,5-hexadieneρdium. Además, se utiliza en pirotecnia.

Solubilidad
Miscible con alcohol y éter.

Notas
Sensible a la humedad. Incompatible con agua, agentes oxidantes fuertes, ácidos minerales y ácidos fuertes.
