Aplicaciones
El ácido tiosalicílico actúa como agente de captura, que es útil en la desulfenilación de 3-indolil sulfuros. Se utiliza para preparar diamidas macrocíclicas por condensación con diaminas. Además, se emplea como precursor de medicamentos, que se aplica en el tratamiento de la aterosclerosis y el melanoma. Asimismo, participa en la preparación de los conservantes de vacunas tiomersal y colorantes tioíndigos.

Solubilidad
Soluble en dimetilsulfóxido, alcohol y éter. Ligeramente soluble en agua, etanol y alcanos.

Notas
Sensible al aire y la luz. Almacenar en lugar fresco. Mantenga el recipiente bien cerrado en un lugar seco y bien ventilado. Incompatible con agentes oxidantes fuertes.
