Tetra-n-butylammonium hydroxide, 40% w/w aq. solution is used as a phase-transfer catalyst in organic synthesis especially for alkylation and condensation reactions. It is used as a curing accelerator for epoxy resins. It is also used in preparation of dichlorocarbene from chloroform.

Aplicaciones
El hidróxido de tetra-n-butilamonio, en solución acuosa al 40 % p/p, se utiliza como catalizador de transferencia de fase en la síntesis orgánica, especialmente indicado para reacciones de alquilación y condensación. También se utiliza como acelerador de curado de resinas epóxicas y en la preparación de diclorocarbeno a partir de cloroformo.

Solubilidad
Miscible con disolventes orgánicos.

Notas
Sensible al aire e higroscópico. Es incompatible con ácidos fuertes y corroe el metal.
