Terephthalaldehyde is used as an intermediate for the preparation of dyes and fluorescent whitening agents. It is used in the synthesis of polyimines by reacting with aliphatic diamines. It is used as a precursor for the preparation of paramagnetic microporous polymeric organic frameworks (POFs) through copolymerization with pyrrole, indole, and carbazole.

Aplicaciones
El tereftalaldehído se utiliza como intermediario para la preparación de colorantes y agentes blanqueadores fluorescentes. Se utiliza en la síntesis de poliiminas mediante la reacción con diaminas alifáticas. Se utiliza como precursor para la preparación de estructuras orgánicas poliméricas (POF) microporosas y paramagnéticas mediante copolimerización con pirrol, indol y carbazol.

Solubilidad
Soluble en agua caliente, alcohol y éter.
