Comúnmente utilizado en electroforesis de ácido nucleico. El tampón TBE se utiliza para electroforesis en gel de poliacrilamida y agarosa. Es ideal para la separación de ADN y ARN en geles de larga duración, tensión o amperaje más altos. El TBE se utiliza con geles no desnaturalizantes o desnaturalizantes (urea de 7 M).

TBE (Tris/Borate/EDTA) Buffer is commonly used in nucleic acid electrophoresis. TBE Buffer is used for polyacrylamide and agarose gel electrophoresis. It is ideally suited for DNA and RNA separation on longer run, higher voltage or amperage gels. TBE is used with non-denaturing or denaturing (7 M urea) gels. It is also routinely used for DNA automated sequencing gel.5 TBE can also be used for agarose gels but is not recommended for preparative gels for recovery of nucleic acids. Tris-Borate-EDTA buffer has been used for pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE).
