Sodium oxalate is used as reducing agent, as a primary standard for standardizing potassium permanganate solutions and as a neutralizer for exothermic acidic reactions. It finds application in metal cleaning preparations, metal extraction and separation, blueprint coatings, electroplating baths, special cement manufacturing, plant nutrition as well as in textile and pharmaceutical industries. It plays an important role to remove calcium ions from blood plasma and prevents blood clotting.

This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand. The original Alfa Aesar product / item code or SKU reference has not changed as a part of the brand transition to Thermo Scientific Chemicals.

Aplicaciones
El oxalato de sodio se utiliza como agente reductor, como estándar primario para estandarizar las soluciones de permanganato potásico y como neutralizador para las reacciones ácidas exotérmicas. Se aplica en preparaciones de limpieza de metales; extracción y separación de metales; revestimientos de color azul acero; baños de galvanoplastia; fabricación de cemento especial; nutrición de plantas; así como en las industrias textiles y farmacéuticas. Desempeña un papel importante para eliminar los iones de calcio del plasma sanguíneo y previene la coagulación de la sangre.

Solubilidad
Soluble en agua y ácido fórmico. Insoluble en éter y alcohol.

Notas
Higroscópico. Mantenga el recipiente bien cerrado en un lugar seco y bien ventilado. Incompatible con agentes oxidantes fuertes.
