Decreases calcium release from intracellular stores. Inhibits histone deacetylase.Sodium butyrate is used in the treatment of human spinal muscular atrophy patients. Further, it is used in the determination of the role of histone acetylation in chromatin structure and function.

Aplicaciones
Reduce la liberación de calcio de los almacenes intracelulares. Inhibe la histona deacetilasa. El butirato de sodio se utiliza en el tratamiento de pacientes humanos con atrofia muscular espinal.
