Silicon carbide is used in abrasives, in polishing and grinding. It is widely used in applications calling for high endurance, such as automobile brakes, car clutches and ceramic plates in bulletproof vests. Electronic applications of silicon carbide are as light emitting diodes and sensors. It is utilized for the production of fertile, transgenic maize plants. It compositely plays an important role in the crack-healing behavior.

Aplicaciones
El carburo de silicio se utiliza en abrasivos, en pulido y rectificado.
