Potassium oxalate hydrate is used as a chelating agent, a purifying agent in the pharmaceutical industry and a precipitating agent in rare-earth metal processing. It finds application as a grinding agent, as a rust remover in metal treatment and as a bleaching agent in the textile and wood industry. It is also used in waste water treatment and as a scale remover in automobile radiators. Furthermore, it is used as a reagent in analytical chemistry for the determination of calcium and other heavy metals as well as reducing agents in photography. It is also involved in the preparation of SBA-15 (nanostructured SiO2) supported vanadium oxide catalyst.

Aplicaciones
El hidrato de oxalato de potasio se utiliza como agente quelante, agente purificador en el sector farmacéutico y agente de precipitación en el procesamiento de metales de tierras raras. Se aplica como agente de pulido, como producto para eliminar el óxido en el tratamiento de metales y como agente blanqueador en la industria textil y de la madera. También se utiliza en el tratamiento de aguas residuales y como productos para eliminar las escamas en radiadores de automóviles. Además, se usa como reactivo en química analítica para la determinación de calcio y otros metales pesados, así como agente reductor en fotografía. También participa en la preparación del catalizador de óxido de vanadio compatibles con SBA-15 (nanoestructurado SiO2).
