A saturated fatty acid. Palmitic acid is a saturated fatty acid used in hair care, cosmetics, soaps, paint, rubber, food, pharmaceuticals, animal feed and textiles. It is used to prepare sodium palmitate which is a natural additive in organic products. It is involved in the preparation of cetyl alcohol utilized in the preparation of detergents and cosmetics.

Aplicaciones
Un ácido graso saturado. El ácido palmítico es un ácido graso saturado utilizado en el cuidado del cabello, cosméticos, jabones, pintura, caucho, alimentos, productos farmacéuticos, alimentación animal y textiles. Se utiliza para preparar palmitato sódico, que es un aditivo natural en productos orgánicos. Participa en la preparación de alcohol cetílico, utilizado en la preparación de detergentes y cosméticos.

Solubilidad
Soluble en alcohol caliente, acetona, benceno, éter etílico, acetato de amilo, alcohol propílico y cloroformo. Ligeramente soluble en alcohol frío y éter de petróleo. No soluble en agua.

Notas
Incompatible con agentes oxidantes fuertes, agentes reductores fuertes y bases.
