Description
Okadaic acid, is used as an activator of PKC and inhibitor of PP1 and PP2A phosphatases. The hydrophobic backbone of okadaic acid enables it to enter cells where it stimulates intracellular protein phosphorylation. It mimics the effects of insulin, enhances transmitter release at neuromuscular junctions, causes vasodilation and is a very potent tumor promoter. Okadaic acid is an extremely useful tool for studying cellular processes that are regulated by phosphorylation. It is shown to activate atypical protein kinase C in adipocytes.

El ácido okadaico se utiliza como activador de PKC e inhibidor de PP1 y PP2A fosfatasas. La cadena principal del ácido okadaico es hidrofóbica y le permite entrar en las células, donde estimula la fosforilación de proteínas intracelulares. También emula los efectos de la insulina, aumenta la liberación del transmisor en las uniones neuromusculares, causa vasodilatación y es un promotor tumoral muy potente. El ácido okadaico es una herramienta extremadamente útil para estudiar procesos celulares regulados por fosforilación. Está demostrado que activa la proteína quinasa C atípica en los adipocitos.
Solubilidad
Es soluble en etanol (25 mg/ml), DMSO (25 mg/ml), metanol (≥ 1 mg/ml), cloroformo, acetona, acetato de etilo, DMF y dimetilsulfóxido Insoluble en agua.
Notas
Almacenar en un lugar fresco. Mantener el recipiente bien cerrado en un lugar seco y bien ventilado. Condiciones de almacenamiento recomendadas: a –20 °C. Mantener alejado de agentes oxidantes fuertes.
