Description
O-Acetylsalicylic acid is the prototypical analgesic used in the treatment of mild to moderate pain. acts as an inhibitor of cyclooxygenase which results in the inhibition of the biosynthesis of prostaglandins. Aspirin also inhibits platelet aggregation and is used in the prevention of arterial and venous thrombosis. Along with sodium salicylate (sc-3520), aspirin has been shown to block the long terminal repeat from the human immunodeficiency virus and the Ig κ enhancer from NFκB dependent transcription.

El ácido O-acetilsalicílico es el analgésico prototípico utilizado en el tratamiento del dolor leve a moderado. Actúa como inhibidor de la ciclooxigenasa que provoca la inhibición de la biosíntesis de prostaglandinas. La aspirina también inhibe la agregación plaquetaria y se utiliza en la prevención de la trombosis arterial y venosa. Solubilidad
Soluble en etanol al 100 % (80 mg/ml), DMSO (41 mg/ml) o dimetilformamida (30 mg/ml); ligeramente soluble en solución salina tamponada con fosfato (PBS), pH 7,2 (2,7 mg/ml).
