N,N-Dimethyl-p-toluidine is used as a polymerization catalyst for polyesters, acrylate and epoxy resins. It is also used as a hardener for dental cements and in adhesives. It serves as an intermediate for photographic chemicals, in industrial glues, in artificial fingernail preparations, colorants, pharmaceuticals. It reacts with vinyl ether in the presence of copper(II) chloride gives tetrahydroquinolines. Further, it is used to accelerate polymerization of ethyl methacrylate.

Aplicaciones
La N,N-dimetil-p-toluidina se utiliza como catalizador de polimerización para poliésteres, el acrilato y resinas epoxídicas. También se utiliza como endurecedor para cementos dentales y en adhesivos. Sirve como intermedio para productos químicos fotográficos, en colas industriales, en preparaciones artificiales de uñas, colorantes y productos farmacéuticos. Reacciona con el éter de vinilo en presencia de cloruro de cobre(II), lo que da tetrahidroquinolinas. Además, se utiliza para acelerar la polimerización del metacrilato de etilo.

Solubilidad
Miscible con alcohol, éter y cloroformo. No miscible con agua.

Notas
Incompatible con agentes oxidantes fuertes. Almacenar en lugar fresco.
