Methyl oleate is used as a chromatographic reference standard in biochemical research. It is also used as an intermediate for detergents, emulsifiers, wetting agents, stabilizers, textile treatments, plasticizers, for duplicating ink, rubber and wax. It finds application as lubricant and lubricant additive.

El oleato de metilo se utiliza como patrón de referencia cromatográfica en investigación bioquímica. También se utiliza como intermedio en detergentes, emulsionantes, agentes humectantes, estabilizadores, tratamientos textiles y plastificantes, y para la duplicación de tinta, caucho y cera. Además, sirve de lubricante y aditivo lubricante.
Solubilidad
Miscible con alcohol, éter y cloroformo. Inmiscible con agua.
Notas
Sensible al aire y a la luz. Mantenga el recipiente bien cerrado en un lugar seco y bien ventilado. Incompatible con agentes oxidantes fuertes.
