Methyl 3,5-dihydroxybenzoate was used in the synthesis of cored dendrimers. It was also used in the preparation of bis(5-carbomethoxy-1,3-phenylene)-32-crown-10, a semi-rigid 32-membered ring diester crown ether. It has been used to study ribonucleotide reductase inhibiton and anti-tumor activity .

Aplicaciones
En la síntesis de dendrímeros con núcleo se empleó el 3,5-dihidroxibenzoato de metilo. También se utilizó en la preparación de bis(5-carbometoxi-1,3-fenileno)-32-corona-10, un éter de corona diéster de anillo semirrígido con 32 miembros. Se ha utilizado para estudiar la actividad inhibidora y antineoplásica de la ribonucleótido reductasa.
