Mercaptosuccinic acid is used in the preparation of mercaptosuccinic acid diethyl ester by reaction with ethanol. It is also used as a brightening agent in metal plating. Further, it serves as an intermediate for the synthesis of corrosion inhibitors, soil fumigants, active pharmaceutical ingredients and electroplating agents.

Aplicaciones
El ácido mercaptosuccínico se utiliza en la preparación de éster dietílico de ácido mercaptosuccínico por reacción con el etanol. También se utiliza como agente abrillantador en el chapado de metales. Además, sirve como intermediario para la síntesis de inhibidores de corrosión, fumigantes de suelo, ingredientes farmacéuticos activos y agentes de galvanoplastia.

Solubilidad
Soluble en agua, alcohol y acetona. Ligeramente soluble en éter. Insoluble en benceno.
