It is widely used as a basic refractory material for crucibles, a protective coating in plasma displays, an oxide barrier in spin-tunneling devices, an optical material, a component of tubular construction in heating elements, and also in libraries for preserving books. Magnesium oxide microspheres used in enrichment method of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.
