L-tryptophan is an essential amino acid which is necessary for normal growth in infants and for nitrogen balance in adults. It acts as a natural dietary supplement and used as an antidepressant, anxiolytic and sleep aid. It is used as a precursor to niacin, indole alkaloids and serotonin. It acts as an important intrinsic fluorescent probe, which finds to estimate the nature of microenvironment of the tryptophan.

Aplicaciones
El L-triptófano es un aminoácido esencial que es necesario para el crecimiento normal en bebés y para el equilibrio del nitrógeno en adultos. Actúa como un suplemento dietético natural y se utiliza como antidepresivo, ansiolítico y ayuda para dormir. Se utiliza como precursor de la niacina, alcaloides indólicos y serotonina. Actúa como una sonda fluorescente intrínseca importante que ayuda a estimar la naturaleza del microentorno del triptófano.

Solubilidad
Soluble en agua, amoníaco, alcohol caliente, hidroxidos alcalinos y ácidos diluidos. Ligeramente soluble en ácido acético y etanol. Insoluble en cloroformo y éter etílico.

Incompatible con ácidos fuertes y agentes oxidantes fuertes.
