Isobutyrophenone is used as an internal standard in the determination of hydroxyzine hydrochloride and benzyl alcohol in injection solutions. It is also used in the preparation of alpha-hydroxyisobutyrophenone. Isobutyrophenone is employed as photosensitizer intermediate. It can react with bromoacetic acid ethyl ester to get 3-hydroxy-4-methyl-3-phenyl-valeric acid ethyl ester.

Aplicaciones
La isobutirofenona se utiliza como patrón interno en la determinación del clorhidrato de hidroxizina y del alcohol bencílico en soluciones inyectables. También se utiliza en la preparación de alfa-hidroxiisobutirofenona. La isobutirofenona se emplea como producto intermedio fotosensibilizador. Puede reaccionar con el éster etílico de ácido bromoacético para obtener éster etílico del ácido 3-hidroxi-4-metil-3-fenil-valérico.

Solubilidad
Soluble en alcohol. Insoluble en agua.

Notas
Mantener el recipiente bien sellado. Almacénese en un lugar fresco y seco en recipientes herméticos. Incompatible con agentes oxidantes.
