Se aplica en la industria textil, del barniz y del cuero. Además, se usa como estimulante de la lactancia en el ganado vacuno. Asimismo, se utiliza en la preparación de ácido tetrametilsuccínico y diisopropilcetona.

Solubilidad
Miscible con agua, alcohol, cloroformo y éter. Ligeramente miscible con tetracloruro de carbono.
