Description

Es un inductor de actividad β-galactosidasa en bacterias y es adecuado para usarse con X-gal o bluo-gal para detectar actividad de genes lac en procedimientos de clonación.

Funcionamiento
El IPTG se une con el represor lac y lo libera del operador lac, permitiendo así la transcripción de genes en el operón lac, tales como la codificación genética de la β-galactosidasa.
