Indium(III) chloride is used in famous organic reactions such as Friedel-Crafts acylation and Diels-Alder reaction as a lewis acid catalyst. It is an efficient catalyst for thioacetalization and its chemoselectivity. It catalyzes the enantioselective ring-opening of meso-aziridines with thiols.

Aplicaciones
El cloruro de indio(III) se utiliza en reacciones orgánicas famosas como la alquilación de Friedel-Crafts y la reacción de Diels-Alder como catalizador de ácido de Lewis. Es un catalizador eficiente para la tioacetalización y su quimioselectividad. Cataliza la apertura enantioselectiva del anillo de meso-aciridinas con tioles.

Solubilidad
Soluble en agua y tetrahidrofurano. Escasamente soluble en alcohol e insoluble en éter.

Notas
Higroscópico. Incompatible con ácidos fuertes y agentes oxidantes fuertes. El estado fundido del cloruro de indio(III) puede conducir electricidad.
