Eriochrome black T is used as an indicator in analytical chemistry. It is also used in the detection of rare earth metals. It finds application in dyeing and printing of wool fabric, dyeing of silk and nylon as well as in leather dyeing. It can be used in the spectrophotometric determination of diphenhydramine hydrochloride in pharmaceutical preparations. As a complexometric indicator, it is useful in the determination of hardness of water.

Aplicaciones
El eriocromo negro T se utiliza como indicador en química analítica. También se utiliza en la detección de metales térreos poco comunes. Se aplica en el teñido y estampado de tejidos de lana, teñido de seda y nylon, así como en el teñido de cuero. Se puede utilizar en la determinación espectrofotométrica de clorhidrato de difenhidramina en preparados farmacéuticos. Como indicador complexométrico, es útil en la determinación de la dureza del agua.

Solubilidad
Soluble en agua. Ligeramente soluble en alcohol y acetona.

Notas
Incompatible con agentes oxidantes fuertes y agentes reductores fuertes.
