Description

Diethyl sulfide is used as a solvent for anhydrous mineral salts and in plating baths for coating metals with gold or silver. It is used as a flavoring agent. It is also used in the addition reaction with platinum dichloride to prepare platinum ethynyl dimers and polymers with pendant ferrocenyl group. Further, it is used in the preparation of triethylsulfoniuim ethylsulfate by reaction with sulfuric acid diethyl ester. In addition to this, it is used in the quantification procedure of volatile sulfur compounds by solid-phase microextraction.

Aplicaciones
El sulfuro de dietilo se utiliza como disolvente para sales minerales de anhidro y en baños de recubrimiento para el recubrimiento de metales con oro o plata. Se utiliza como agente aromatizante. También se utiliza en la reacción de adición con dicloruro de platino para preparar dimeros de etinilo de platino y polímeros con grupo de ferrocenilo colgante. Además, se utiliza en la preparación de etilsulfato de trietilsulfonio por su reacción con el éster de dietilo de ácido sulfúrico. Asimismo, se utiliza en el procedimiento de cuantificación de compuestos de azufre volátiles mediante microextracción en fase sólida.

Solubilidad
Miscible con alcohol, etanol y éter. Ligeramente miscible con tetracloruro de carbono. No miscible con agua.

Incompatible con agentes oxidantes fuertes.
