Diethyl 4-methoxybenzylphosphonate is used in synthesis of C-aryl glycosides. It acts as a reactant for synthesis of γ -Monofluorinated goniothalamin analogs via ring-opening hydrofluorination, stilbenoid derivatives with neuroprotective activity, resveratrol-chroman hybrids with antioxidant activity, Oligostilbenoids using regioselective cyclodehydration and arylation.

Aplicaciones
El 4-metoxibencilfosfonato de dietilo se utiliza en la síntesis de glucósidos de C-arilo. Actúa como reactivo para la síntesis de análogos de goniotalamina γ-monofluorada a través de la hidrofluoración de apertura de anillo, de derivados de estilbenoides con propiedades neuroprotectoras, de híbridos resveratrol-croman con propiedades antioxidantes, de oligostilbenoides por ciclodeshidratación y arilación regioselectivas.
