Dichloromethylphenylsilane is used as a monomer (‘building block’) in the production of silicone polymers or silicone resins. Silicone polymers may be oils, greases and rubbers. It is also used as an intermediate (starting material) in the production of other organosilicon substances. It is a bifunctional reagent for the preparation of methylphenylsilyl derivatives of diols.

Aplicaciones
El diclorometilfenilsilano se utiliza como monómero («compuesto básico») en la producción de polímeros de silicona o resinas de silicona. Los polímeros de silicona pueden ser aceites, grasas y cauchos. También se utiliza como intermediario (material de partida) en la producción de otras sustancias organosilícicas. Es un reactivo bifuncional para la preparación de los derivados de metilfenilsililo de los dioles.
