Diallyl sulfide is a modulator of drug metabolizing enzyme P450 system and inducer of the phase II detoxifying enzyme GST. Diallyl sulfide is also an inhibitor of CYP2E1 and believed to prevent chemically-induced carcinogenesis in many tissues. It is also used as a food additive. It is also used as an important raw material and intermediate used in organic Synthesis, pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals and dyestuff.

Aplicaciones
El sulfuro de dialilo es un modulador del sistema de enzima P450 metabolizante de fármacos e inductor de la enzima desintoxicante GST de fase II. También es un inhibidor de CYP2E1 y se cree que es capaz de prevenir en muchos tejidos la carcinogénesis inducida químicamente. Además, se utiliza como aditivo alimentario, como importante materia prima y como producto intermedio en síntesis orgánica, productos farmacéuticos, agroquímicos y colorantes.

Solubilidad
Soluble en alcohol, cloroformo, éter y tetracloruro de carbono. Insoluble en agua.
