Cystamine dihydrochloride acts as an anti-infective agent, which is used in the treatment of urinary tract infections. It is also used as a radiation-protective agent that interferes with sulfhydryl enzymes. Further, it serves as a heparin antagonist and sulfhydryl modifying reagent. In addition to this, it is used as an inhibitor of TGase.

Aplicaciones
El diclorhidrato de cistamina actúa como agente antiinfeccioso utilizado en el tratamiento de infecciones del tracto urinario. También se utiliza como agente protector contra la irradiación que interfiere con las enzimas sulfhidrílicas. Además, sirve como antagonista de la heparina y reactivo de modificación del sulfhidrilo. Asimismo, se utiliza como inhibidor de las TGasa.
