Cyanoacetic acid is used in pharmaceutical industry for producing vitamin B6 and caffeine. It is also used in making dyes, agricultural chemicals, and in the synthesis of phenylacetic acid esters. It acts as a precursor cyanoacrylates viz. ethyl cyanoacrylate.

Aplicaciones
El ácido cianoacético se utiliza en la industria farmacéutica para producir vitamina B6 y cafeína. También se utiliza en la elaboración de colorantes, productos químicos agrícolas y en la síntesis de ésteres de ácido fenilacético. Actúa como precursor de cianoacrilatos, es decir, cianoacrilato de etilo.

Solubilidad
Miscible con agua, alcohol etílico, éter. Ligeramente miscible con benceno, ácido acético y cloroformo.

Notas
Higroscópico. Incompatible con bases fuertes, ácidos, agentes oxidantes fuertes, alcalinos, nitrilos y agentes reductores.
