Chromone-2-carboxylic acid is used in the cyclic form 3?-oxopyrazolidino[4?,5??2, 3]-chroman-4-one, gives the azide of chromone-2-carboxylic acid, the curtius rearrangement of which is used to synthesize a number of 2-acylaminochromones and it is an orally active antiallergic agent.

Aplicaciones
El ácido cromona-2-carboxílico se utiliza en la 3′-oxopirazolidina[4′,5′∶2, 3]-croman-4-ona en forma cíclica y produce la azida del ácido cromona-2-carboxílico, cuya transposición de Curtius se utiliza para sintetizar una serie de 2-acilaminocromonas y es un agente antialérgico activo por vía oral.
