Benzyl carbazate is used as a reagent for preparation of benzyloxycarbonyl (Z, Cbz) hydrazides of carboxylic acids, particularly N-protected amino acids. Subsequent hydrogenolysis gives the hydrazide which can be converted to the azide for coupling with a further amino acid residue by the azide method. It is also used in the preparation of simple acyl or sulfonyl hydrazides avoiding diacylation.

Aplicaciones
El carbazato de bencilo se utiliza como reactivo para la preparación de hidrazidas de benciloxicarbonilo (Z, Cbz) de los ácidos carboxílicos, en particular los aminoácidos N-protegidos. La hidrogenólisis posterior produce una hidrazida que puede convertirse en la azida para acoplarse a un aminoácido adicional residual mediante el método de azidas. También se utiliza en la preparación de hidrazidas de acilo o sulfonilo simples evitando la diacilación.

Solubilidad
Soluble en agua (ligeramente), metanol y DMSO.

Notas
Almacenar en un lugar fresco. Mantenga el recipiente bien cerrado en un lugar seco y bien ventilado. Manipular en gas inerte. Proteger de la humedad. Incompatible con agentes oxidantes fuertes.
