6-Aminoquinoline was used as an internal standard in determining serum nicotine and cotinine simultaneously by using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)-fluorometric detection with a postcolumn ultraviolet-photo irradiation system. It was also used as a fluorescent derivatizing agent for the detection of biochemicals and in the synthesis of tertiary N-methylated enaminonesa.

Aplicaciones
La 6-aminoquinolina se utilizó como estándar interno para determinar simultáneamente la nicotina y la cotinina sérica mediante el uso de cromatografía de líquidos de alto rendimiento (HPLC) con un sistema de fotoirradiación ultravioleta poscolumna. También se empleó como agente derivatizante fluorescente para la detección de productos bioquímicos y en la síntesis de enaminonesa de N-metilada terciaria.
