5-Methoxypiperonal is used in the synthesis of oxazole combretastatin A-4 analogs showing anti-tumor activity. It is also used in the synthesis of endothelin-A antagonist ABT-546, and further in the synthesis of antidepressant rolipram.

Aplicaciones
El 5-metoxipiperonal se utiliza en la síntesis de los análogos de combretastatina A-4 de oxazol que muestran actividad antitumoral. También se utiliza en la síntesis del antagonista de la endotelina A, ABT-546, y en la síntesis del antidepresivo rolipram.
