4-Methoxybenzoic acid is used in oxidation and reduction of cytochrome c in solution through different self-assembled monolayers on gold electrodes using cyclic voltammetry. p-Anisic acid has antiseptic properties. It is also used as an intermediate in the preparation of more complex organic compounds.

Aplicaciones
El ácido 4-metoxibenzoico se utiliza en la oxidación y reducción de citocromo c en solución a través de diferentes monocapas autoensambladas en electrodos de oro utilizando voltametría cíclica. El ácido p-anísico tiene propiedades antisépticas. También se utiliza como intermediario en la preparación de compuestos orgánicos más complejos.
