3-Methylpiperidine, is used as a reactant for synthesis of Phenylpropenamide derivatives for anti-hepatitis B virus activity, CB2 receptor agonists for treatment of chronic pain, aurora kinase inhibitors, spiroimidazolidinone NPC1L1 inhibitors, 1,3,5-Oxadiazinones, selective serotonin 5-HT6 receptor antagonists. It is also used as a pharmaceutical intermediate and as a intermediate in organic synthesis.

Aplicaciones
La 3-metilpiperidina se utiliza como reactivo en la síntesis de derivados de la fenilpropenamida para conseguir propiedades contra el virus de la hepatitis B, en la de 2 agonistas de los receptores CB para el tratamiento del dolor crónico, en la de inhibidores de la quinasa Aurora, en la de inhibidores de la espiroimidazolidinona NPC1L1, en la de 1,3,5-oxadiazinonas y en la de antagonistas selectivos del receptor de serotonina 5-HT6. También se utiliza como intermedio farmacéutico y como intermedio en síntesis orgánica.
