3-Methyl-2-butenal is used in small quantities as food flavor in alcoholic beverages, chewing gums, confection frosting, frozen dairy, fruit ice, gelatin pudding, hard and soft candy and jam jelly. Used in daily flavor, and cosmetic flavor in perfumes. A starting material for the synthesis of vitamin A.

Aplicaciones
El 3-metil-2-butenal se utiliza en pequeñas cantidades como saborizante alimenticio en bebidas alcohólicas, chicles, glaseado de repostería, productos lácteos congelados, hielo de frutas, pudin de gelatina, caramelos duros y blandos, y mermelada. Se utiliza en saborizantes cotidianos, y en saborizantes cosméticos para perfumes. Material de partida para la síntesis de vitamina A.
