3-Furoic acid is used in synthesis of furan-2,5- and furan-2,4-dicarboxylic acid under solvent-free conditions via disproportionation reaction. It exhibits hypolipidemic activity in rodents. It lowers serum cholesterol and serum triglyceride levels in mice and rats.

Aplicaciones
El ácido 3-furoico se usa en la síntesis del ácido furano-2,5- y furano-2,4-dicarboxílico libre de disolventes mediante la reacción de desproporción. Muestra actividad hipolipidémica en roedores. Reduce los niveles de colesterol y triglicéridos séricos en ratones y ratas.

Solubilidad
Soluble en agua, éter, alcohol, etanol y metanol.
