3,4-Dimethoxyphenol is used in the preparation of 5,6-dimethoxy benzofuranone derivatives and multi-target anti Alzheimer compounds. It is also used in the preparation of 3,4-dimethoxyphenyl-beta-D-glucopyranoside and 4-(but-2-enyloxy)-1,2-dimethoxybenzene. Further, it serves as a precursor for 4H-chromenes synthesis.

Aplicaciones
El 3,4-dimetoxifenol se utiliza en la preparación de derivados de la benzofuranona de 5,6-dimetoxi y compuestos multiobjetivo para combatir el Alzheimer. También se utiliza en la preparación del 3,4-dimetoxifenil-beta-D-glucopiranósido y del 4-(but-2-eniloxi)-1,2-dimetoxibenceno. Además, sirve como precursor para la síntesis de 4H-cromenos.
