2-Mercaptoethane sulfonic acid sodium salt is used as an adjuvant in cancer chemotherapy involving cyclophosphamide and ifosfamide. It is used as an antioxidant and cytoprotective agent in a wide variety of applications from protection from toxicity of therapeutic agents, such as cyclophosphamide to prevention from brain injury damage.

Aplicaciones
La sal sódica de ácido 2-mercaptoetanosulfónico se utiliza como adyuvante en la quimioterapia contra el cáncer con ciclofosfamida e ifosfamida. Se utiliza como antioxidante y citoprotector en una amplia variedad de aplicaciones, desde la protección contra la toxicidad de los agentes terapéuticos, como la ciclofosfamida, hasta la prevención de daños cerebrales.

Solubilidad
Soluble en agua. También soluble en metanol, DMSO (33 mg/ml) y etanol (<1 mg/ml).

Notas
Estable en las condiciones de almacenamiento recomendadas. Incompatible con los agentes oxidantes.
